Phoenix is a square-rigged sailing vessel measuring 111 feet in length, built in 1929 by the Hjorne & Jakobsen shipyards in Frederikshavn, Denmark, originally as a merchant ship.
Rather than following traditional commercial routes, she spent around twenty years sailing as a schooner for evangelical missions, before later returning to cargo transport.
After a change of ownership, the vessel underwent a further conversion to serve as a film set.
Phoenix has appeared in numerous films and television series, earning an excellent reputation within the film industry. Recent productions include “In the Heart of the Sea”, “Poldark”, “Taboo” and “Frontier”.

In 1996, she was transformed into a brigantine and, in this configuration, served as a backdrop for numerous productions, including Hornblower, Captain Sabre-tooth, Voyage of Discovery, Moll Flanders, Frenchman’s Creek, The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Since 2017, Phoenix has appeared in productions such as In the Heart of the Sea, Poldark (all seasons), Taboo, Frontier, Outlander and Napoleon.
